On March 17, 2025, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University held a ceremony to launch the first ultra-long axial field-of-view PET/CT scanner in Western China. The event was attended by Mr. QIN Zhengjie, Secretary of the CPC CQMU Committee, Mr. PAN Jianbo, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Health Commission, Prof. WU Hao, Party Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU, Prof. LUO Yong, President of the hospital, and Dr. TAN Guosheng, General Manager and Co-CEO of Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., LTD, who jointly unveiled the equipment. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Luo.
Professor PANG Hua, Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU, highlighted the clinical advantages of the new equipment, which include “ultra-fast imaging, high-definition positioning, and precise detection.”
Mr. Pan Jianbo remarked that the introduction of the world-leading United Imaging long-axis PET/CT scanner marks a significant improvement in the hospital’s comprehensive strength and is a crucial step toward bringing high-end imaging diagnostic technology in Chongqing to an internationally advanced level.
Prof. Wu emphasized that this equipment will greatly enhance the early screening and diagnostic accuracy for cancer, neurological, and cardiovascular diseases, offering patients a new and improved diagnostic experience.
Once fully operational, the equipment will primarily serve high-risk cancer patients and facilitate the precise diagnosis of complex cases, ensuring earlier detection and treatment of diseases in oncology, neurology, and cardiology.
